While the curfew remains in force round the clock countrywide today and tomorrow (25, 26) until 5.00 am on Monday (27), DIG Ajith Rohana said the violators of curfew regulations would be dealt with strictly and charged under the Quarantine Disease Prevention Ordinance (QDPO).

DIG Rohana said 666 individuals had been arrested and 183 vehicles detained yesterday, for violating the curfew. Altogether over 35,000 men and women remained in custody for the offence since March 20.

All vehicles venturing out during curfew will be confiscated he stated.

We have ordered all police officers to check not only main roads but also by-roads, lanes and footpaths and arrest anyone breaking the curfew, DIG Rohana stressed.

This is a joke. So many vehicles in our area in Mount Lavinia. Not a fly is bothered.

All these laws only to poor and innocent people. The rich neighbors where I live drive in and out of their houses morning, noon and night and no one is arrested. Why doesn’t these laws apply to them? Most people go out to buy food to feed their innocent children and families. Having elections also should be stopped in that case. Different laws for different classes of societies.

I my neighborhood, the rich people go in their cars and bring the grass cutter, gardener, mason bass to work in their houses and take them back in the evening. Where is the law for them? When the police see super luxury vehicles, they put their tails in between their legs and salute the driver and let them drive through checkpoints. If not, how else can rich people be moving around with their usual household chores and we poor people are arrested and tried in a court? This is Banana Republic.

There is no parliament to make the rules. Only one man makes the rules by abusing constitution, laws, and human rights.

This country has two sets of laws. One for SLPP supporters and another for the general public.
