All prisons across the country which were closed for visitors would be re-opened from August 15 with strict health guidelines, the Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said today.
He said that an inmate would be allowed only one visit per week.
“Visitors will not be allowed to bring foods for inmates but they can bring clothes or sanitary items,” he said.
Commissioner (Administration) Ekanayake said that the visitors should adhere to the proper health and safety measures while visiting the inmates.
All prisons across the country were closed for visitors on July 8 following the detection of a Covid-19 inmate at the Welikada Prison.(DSB).
