The police have made 177 arrests yesterday for for showing ignorance by not wearing masks and failing to maintain physical distance in public.
Police said 134 of them have been arrested from the Western Province alone.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said among the arrested were 39 persons from Colombo and 45 from Gampaha and 50 others from the Kalutara district.
He said the Police are conducting islandwide operations to crackdown on health violators due to the rapid spreading of the Covid virus.
DIG Rohana said the highest number of arrests for violating quarantine laws in a single day since October 30, 2020 to date were made yesterday.
Accordingly, 3647 arrests have been made to date.(DSB)
