Patali Champika resigns as JHU General Secretary

Former Minister and MP Patali Champika Ranawaka, has resigned from General Secretary post of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) and also from the party membership.

Several other members of the party also resigned from their posts. The event was held at the JHU Special National Convention held today in order to form a new political force.

Accordingly, MP Ranawaka, Karunaratne Paranavithana, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, Anuruddha Pradeep Karnasuriya, Nirosha Athukorala, Thushara Swarnathilaka, Danushka Ramanayake, Boseth Kalahepathirana, Theekshana Gammanpila, Kingsley Perera, Gamini Shantha, Gamini Liyanage, Thusitha Hewage and JHU Local Government members resigned from their posts.

However, new office bearers were appointed with the approval of the party members, who were present at the convention.

Accordingly, Ven. Hadigalle Wimalasara Thera was appointed as the new Chairman of the JHU while Bandula Chandrasekara was appointed as the new General Secretary.

Moreover, Daya Perera was appointed as the Deputy Chairman while Tudor Perera as the Deputy Secretary, Anil Jayawardena as the Treasurer and Mahendra Jayasinghe as the National Organizer.
