Buddhasasana Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera today said that he will discuss with President Maithripala Sirisena to secure a pardon for Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera as soon as the President arrived in the country.
He told the Daily Mirror that he received several letters from Ramanna Nikaya, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kotte Sri Kalayani Samagi Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter of the Siam Nikaya, and Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Nikaya for the release of the Thera.
“There is no need of having discussions with the officials in the President Secretariat as the President has already left for Singapore. I would request the President to grant a pardon for Ven. Gnanasara Thera ,” the Minister said. (Indika Sri Aravinda)

There is no any urgency to release him, if released he will create problems again, he does not need a pardon to his character, allow him serve the full sentence
