The PCR testing programme which was to be conducted in Colombo North has been postponed because of a work stoppage by the public health officers (PHIs), Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni said yesterday.
“We hope the trade union action is settled by Monday so that we can conduct the PCR tests in Colombo,” Dr. Wijeyamuni said and added that they were hoping to call in the retired PHIs to help carry out COVID-19 prevention work.
However, Daily Mirror learns that some PHIs attached to small unions were not supporting the work stoppage. (Yohan Perera)

PHI should not react in this manner . What ever party no stable government because un fortunately election is still on hang . Can't blame any one. PHIs are not disition makers All thess day s they worked. So carry on. Do not let political hands play games at a serious situation like this . Once covid is controlled never mind u all fight back .

The government is to blame. They only have their choice in mind. The population doesn't care about them.
