Newly appointed Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay, as part of his engagement with Sri Lankan leaders, hosted the Cabinet ministers for dinner on Wednesday night.
Eighteen Cabinet Ministers participated in the dinner, and among them were Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila, Irrigation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, Envioroenment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Power Minister Dalles Alahapperuma, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane , Plantation Minister Ramesh Pathirane, Water Supply Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara.

The High Commissioner yesterday called on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. High Commissioner congratulated Speaker on assuming the high office and safe and successful conduct of general elections.
"The High Commissioner emphasised the high priority accorded by India to strengthen multifarious and age-old civilisational ties between the two countries, including through Parliamentary exchanges, people-to-people relations trade and investment and development cooperation in accordance with requirements and priorities of the government and people of Sri Lanka," a statement from the High Commission said.
