Fresh probe required to determine presence of intl. force behind Easter Sunday attacks : Niroshan

A fresh probe is needed to determine whether there was any international force behind the Easter Sunday attacks, a Catholic MP said today.

SJB (Samagi Jana Balawegaya) MP Niroshan Perera told a press conference that a fresh probe is needed to be conducted to determine the probable presence of an international organisation behind the attack on the churches and hotels on Easter Sunday in 2019.

“There is a possibility that some international forces were behind the attacks. One must remember that Indian intelligence units, and the FBI of USA had given prior warnings about the attacks. Therefore these warnings should be looked at and probed,” Mr. Perera said.

“It is hard to believe that Zaharan master- minded the attack. It is questionable whether Zaharan was the head of the organisation which staged the attacks as he himself would have not blown himself up and let his organisation die with the attacks. Therefore it is possible that Zaharan worked under another leader or leaders above him,” he added.

The SJB MP said parliamentarians of his party will make some disclosures when Parliament debates the Presidential Commission report.

Also he said all political party leaders must come up with their stand on the Presidential Commission report. “ We will get our party leader to come up with our party’s official stand on the report,” he said.(Yohan Perera)
