The Terrorism Investigation Division(TID) arrested 60-year old Rashid Hajjul Akbar, the former President of Jama’ath-e-Islami organisation on charges of spreading Wahhabism in Sri Lanka.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect, a resident of Mawanella was arrested yesterday in Dematagoda.

According to the investigation, the suspect had written various articles about wahabism in the magazine 'Alhasanath' published by the Jamaat-e-islami organization.

The suspect held the position of the President of the organization for a longer period and  he has created the ideology of wahabism and jihad concepts and he is one of the pioneers of that particular concept, he said.

"The suspect has cultivated wahabism in the minds of minority Muslims in Sri Lanka and has sown the seeds of disharmony among traditional Muslims and other groups," DIG Rohana said.

He also said the suspect would be detained at the TID for further questioning under the terms of the provisions of  prevention of terrorism act.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

I have personally read so many of " Alhasanath " Megazine. I haven't seen a sing place where it was any sort of extremism. It promotes the good .Seems the investigation is diverting from bringing the true culprits behind this attack

If you depend on google translation for sure it will give you a wrong meaning. By the way anyone who writes about Islam seems to be a person promoting terrorism in Sri Lanka. Govt should issue a guideline considering their thoughts about Wahhabism so that the Muslims will have a knowledge as to what they should write and not. Daily Mirror please post this comment.

Any propaganda to promote a religious or any other teaching through intolerance and disregard to other views and other teachings should be unconditionally banned and perpetrators arrested, charged and imprisoned for a very long time. 'Our God is the true God' theory is fit only for the insane.

Quran confirms the five sins (or crimes) enumerated in the Pancha Seelaya (Pancha Mahaa Padhahangal in Tamil). Quran is the only scripture that imposes specific punishment for those five sins (or crimes). Is this crime? How many non Muslims know this?

What about arresting The Saudi Ambassador and banning all Saudis coming to Sri Lanka. Also ban Sri Lankans going to Saudi Arabia, which is the land of Wahhabism. Also why don't you then file a case against Saudi Arabia and arrest the Saudi King for Questioning.
