Explosives seized in A’pura: one arrested

A cache of explosives including 145 detonators, 786 metres of service code, 243 gelignite sticks, 12.5 kilogrammes of gunpowder and 36.6 kilogrammes of ammonia nitrate was recovered in a raid carried out at Kalawewa in Anuradhapura on Monday, police said.

A 50-year-old man was arrested with the cache of explosives. Police said the suspect would be produced in the Kekirawa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. (Dayaratne Embogama)
