Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Anil Jasinghe said there were only 19 Covid-19 cases reported yesterday and that they had no intention of hiding the actual situation in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Dr. Jasinghe said the health authorities were taking measures to reveal the actual number of cases being reported daily and warned people to be aware of the false information being circulated on social media with regard to COVID-19 numbers and only rely on the information provided by the health authorities.
Among the cases reported yesterday, four, two were returnees from Oman and UAE respectively, five were from Kandakadu, four were from Senapura, two were from Kundasale, one each from Lankapura and Rajanganaya.
The number of COVID-19 patients being treated at hospitals countrywide rose to 666 yesterday while seven COVID-19 patients had recovered and were discharged yesterday increasing the number of those who had recovered to 1,988.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, the Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka climbed to 2,665 as of 9.30 pm yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Government Medical Officers Association said Sri Lanka is currently passing the ‘Dance Phase’ stage in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

IMPORTANT - ACTION please put curfew like last time for 1-2 weeks Island wide and 3weeks in areas with Covid 19 Immediately - restrict movements NOW And During that time fully Test or Prisons (staff included ), rehab centres, frontline police and armed forces And health staff dealing with suspected and infected cases And strongly request them and public not to move all over the country unnecessarily and charge penalty If they do so (no point of legal action). Of course - govt has been 100% honest with us. If people are actualy dying and sick - believe me, you would hear and see it. Hospitals would be flooded with the sick. Cemeteries would be flooded with the dead, like you saw in other countries. Sri Lanka has seen no such thing, so people please stop assuming the government is lying just because they did a good job so far.

With the current measures it is impossible to keep the spread of the virus under control. The military regime under the dictator Gota lies to the population for selfish reasons and you know this. In your role as Director General of Health Services, you are committed to the population and not to a criminal mafia family. You should also respect Hippocrates' oath. But you're spreading the regime's lies. Perhaps the generals will force you to lie and you cannot counter the pressure, but in this case you should have the backbone and resign.
