Amnesty for prison inmates will be granted on account of Christmas in the near future, the Prisons Department said.
Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said around 100 relevant review reports have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
“The Justice Ministry informed the Prisons Ministry that amnesty for prison inmates will be granted in the near future. All the prison inmates are very much interested in the Christmas pardon,” he said.
