The Army today recovered a cache of unusable artillery shells during a search operation conducted in the Mulliyawalai area.
Among the ammunition recovered were, 110 Nos. 152mm artillery shells, 36Nos. 122mm artillery shells, 49 Nos. 152mm artillery shells, 29 Nos. 122mm artillery shells and 10 Nos. fuses.
The cache of ammunition was recovered following a court order by the 9th Field Engineer Corps and Mulliyawalai Police.
The Mulliyawalai Police are conducting further investigations in collaboration with Army.
