National Movement for Consumer Right today said that police should arrest MPs who own illegal betting and gambling centres rather than apprehending others to victimize them politically
Head of the National Movement for Consumer Rights Ranjith Vithanage said that his organization is opposed to political victimization while some politicians who engage in grave crimes are allowed to carry out their activities freely.
“We criticise MP Ranjan Ramanayake for many of his deeds, but he spoke fearlessly on behalf of the people in several instances. However if the government continue to arrest people-friendly politicians, it will die a natural death,” Mr. Withanage said.
“If the Police can prove that they are acting independently, they should arrest an MP or MPs who are operating betting centres in the country,” he added.
