UNP Member of Parliament Ranjith Madduma Bandara today said his appointment as the General Secretary of the UNP-led alliance was yet to be finalised though he had been named for the post.
“ I was informed by Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa that he had decided to appoint me as the General Secretary but the UNP and UNF members had to discuss the matter before finalising my appointment,” Mr Madduma Bandara said.
Asked whether the UNP Working Committee would discuss the matter when it met on Thursday, he did not rule out such a possibility.
Responding to a question as to whether he and others who boycotted the last Working Committee meeting would participate in the Thursday’s meeting, he said the MPs concerned would discuss the matter and come to a decision in time for the meeting.
Sources said that the UNP Working Committee would discuss the General Secretary’s post and the symbol of the alliance on Thursday. (Yohan Perera)
