37 Chinese arrested by Navy

Navy arrested 37 Chinese nationals when they were engaged in poaching in Sri Lanka waters, 13 nautical miles away from Batticaloa.

Navy said that the China has an agreement with the Fisheries Ministry where they can engage in fishing beyond 200 nautical miles from Sri Lanka.

The navy arrested two Sri Lankans who were with the Chinese in two multi day fishing trawlers and all of them were brought to Trincomalee. (SD)

Don't go against big guns. They should be released ASAP after the police interrogation. Think of our infrastructure development and they bring a new phase to Srilanka. Nobody will assist SL like this in near 15 years to come because all the other countries are on recession.

So the Chinese are coming all the from China to fish in our waters and sell the same fish to SL fisheries corporation canned fish factory in Galle. Why we allow another country to fish in our waters when we import fish from them. Is selling all our natural resources free of charge to other countries is the GOSL's latest game plan...to stay in power. Ashchrirya...or Baluchariya. This is the worst crime in our history.
