Eighteen journalists who have been assigned to cover the Independence Day celebrations at the Independence Square were tested positive with COVID-19.
The Government Information Department said at least 200 journalists from print and electronic media who were assigned to cover the event during this week were subject to PCR tests before they were allowed to participate.
Only those who tested negative were allowed to attend the event, while those who were found infected with COVID-19 have been directed for treatment.
