Update: Earth embankment collapses, two killed

At least two people died and two others injured following the earth embankment collapsed at a site in the Moragahakanda -Kaluganga project in Laggala area,police said.

Another two were rescued short while ago, however, the rescued backhoe operator died soon after being admitted to the Dambulla hospital.

Four teams attached to the Army Commando unit were deployed to handle the rescue operation that lasted eight hours to search other injured survivors.
