Audio: Opposition contest resolution

UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella and TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran said that the resolution passed in parliament a short while ago was flawed and thus invalid.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror after the conclusion of the vote MP Lakshman Kiriella said “it was a sad day for the country.”

He went on to point out that the resolution presented was the same resolution that was tabled on November 6.

“The speaker didn’t give a proper reason as to why our objections were not accepted,” he said.

TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran said that since the resolution was flawed the President cannot act on it.

“Its flawed, the resolution tabled was to a point a select committee and nothing else. If the President acts on it he will be acting unconstitutionally,” he said.( Hafeel Farisz)

The UNP always finds something wrong but never pursues the issues. Are they doing this for the sake of it?

nothing you can do about it, they run the country and parliament like as there own property, no point of having committee, resol ution or vote. outcomes are pre planned and pre decided. so called law makers are just puppets who stands up and sit down whenever president asks them to do so.

Because speaker is appointed by Government only & he cannot act against government wishes.
How older brother can allow his younger brother to be in trouble?. Chamal has to protect Basil even Basil does a murder.
It's the bond between brothers.

Our President is a very honorable man. He does not do any of the 5 major sins and follow the Pancha Seelaya. He does not hurt anyone. He is so soft that he does not hurt the feelings of his cabinet including Mervin, Wimal, etc. He is such an honorable man that we are lucky to have him as President..
