I will be the CM till I die - Berty

E-mail Print
Former Chief Minister of the North Central Province, Berty Premalal Dissanayake said that he would be the Chief Minister in the North Central Province until his death as long as the people of the area were with him.

Addressing his first election propaganda meeting held at his house in Anuradhapura, Mr. Dissanayake said no persons   both from the opposition as well as within his party – were there to challenge him for the Chief Ministerial portfolio.

“The day after the election, Berty Premalal Dissanayake will be the Chief Minister of the North Central Province. There is no doubt about that and no one can change it,” Mr. Dissanayake said adding that, “there are some media reports about the next Chief Minister, but no one should care about those reports, as I will be the Chief Minister forever.” (Athula Bandara -Anuradhapura)

I doubt, with his uppish statement, he will not last until the Elections even. Feel sorry for this old block.

Seems to be the new trend in Socialist, Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka. King for life, Minister for life, Chief Minister for life - either by hook or by crook even if the people dont vote for them. Why not wish for the same position in the next birth too.

This is because voters think they are UNP, SLFP or JVP for life.

This sounds as a threat to the president himself who will be under pressure to keep reappointing this man as CM until his death, so long as the thugs of the area are with him. Isn't it a disgrace to the president who has men in his government who keep making ridiculous statements like this?

Here again ... no point blaming him. He will be the same forever. If the voting people are wise .... they must know whom to vote. Again it's up to the voter.
