While charging that the Police media spokesman was trying to water down the Katuwana shooting incident, the JVP today challenged Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hulugalle to prove the accuracy of his statement issued following the incident.

Soon after the shooting incident in Katuwana, where two JVP supporters were shot dead by unidentified men last Friday, Mr. Hulugalle claimed that the incident was suspected to be linked to an internal dispute among two JVP groups.

Addressing a press conference, JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, “It is ridiculous for a person to make such a statement after an underworld gang shot dead two persons and injured others. We challenge Mr. Hulugalle to prove the accuracy of his statement if possible. Also, the police media spokesman is trying to water down this incident.” (Kelum  Bandara)
