Maldivian arrested for alleged fraud

A Maldivian national was arrested in connection with an alleged fraud of Rs. 51,800, from a resident of Maharagama, police said.

It is reported that the suspect has sent a short message (SMS) to the victim which said that he had won 500,000 pounds from a leading beverage company and to collect the price money, he needed to make a payment.

Maharagama police found that the suspect is also a resident from Maharagama area and investigations are further conducting.
