Fined for damaging fence on E01

The driver who caused damages to the protective fence of the Southern Expressway in the first road accident after opening of the expressway was ordered to pay Rs.534,960 as compensation by Kesbewa District Judge and Magistrate Chamath Madanayaka.

The vehicle of the accused K.C.Jayalath from Galle, had gone out of control due to excessive speed and toppled causing damage to the protective fence.

The accused  was released on certified bail in Rs.50,000 pending payment of compensation. (Jayasena Hathwella)

Seeing how people drive in Sri Lanka is an embarrassment. Many drivers cannot stay in their lane and speed stupidly. Road discipline is paramount to getting rid of third-world driving conditions.
