The Government will print and publish a code for the use of the National Anthem which will protect it’s pride and give the National Anthem its due respect, the government said.

This code will be compiled by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs in all three languages and the Cabinet approval has been granted for this purpose.

What about a code of conduct for political goons ? The National Anthem does not belong to government ! Are we not free to use this as we please ? This is like 3rd Reich !

We in Sri Lanka not only need a code for the national anthem but also a code of ethics for all thing we do.

What is more important is to come up with a Code of Ethics for some of the government MPs who utter filth in the Parliament and outside.

Good idea!! this will stop the misuse of the national anthem and impropper production. Most of the versions I have heard are wrong with wrong notes and chord structure.

Why not for the national flag, too ? Have seen torn dirty national flags at so many places and even on vehicles, may be the ones that were put up after the end of the war.

The National Anthem is the property of the people of Sri Lanka not of any fool who gets voted into the parliament. All of you who think this is a good idea answer this- Who keeps track of the government miss using the national flag and anthem ??

We are handing more and more of our civil liberties to the state!! The Government wants to use this to gain more control and the stupids that we are we dont seem to see through this plot!!

If not for SF there is no room left for the National Anthem. So better give due respect to SF and release him without any delay.

Why is there no Code of Conduct published for the president, prime minister, ministers, members of parliament, governors, chief ministers, provincial councilors, municipal members & the secretaries of ministries, Ambassadors. The people follow the path followed by these people. In addition there should be a minimum qualification for people to fill these post. presently it is easier to become a mp rather than getting a postman job
