UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra yesterday claimed that the leaked second phone recording clip said to be of her and MP Ranjan Ramanayake was maliciously edited and vowed to take legal action against those who published the clips.

Posting a video on her facebook account, she said the content and voice in the second leaked phone recording was maliciously edited.
“I appeal to people to listen to the two recording clips which were said to be mine and Ranjan’s attentively. There is a big difference in the two,” she said.
The MP said she was not involved in any of those recordings and claimed that she would take legal action against those behind the editing and leaking of the malicious audios. “I will go to courts and complain to the police. I request for a report from the Government Analist to prove if the voice in the recording was mine. I will take legal action against TV channels and facebook pages which published the recordings,” she said. Ms Premachandra alleged that the government had given publicity to the recordings to suppress the real issues faced by the people.
“People are struggling to make their ends meet today. Vegetable prices are soaring. Uniform vouchers given to school children have been reduced from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 520. Nutrition packs given to pregnant mothers have been stopped,” she said. She said there was an agenda to create an opinion to show that Duminda Silva was a political prisoner and leaking of the recordings was part of that.
