A lookalike to his cricketing idol Sanath Jayasuriya, Kusal Perera played as a middle order bat most of his career but given his ability to score runs aggressively saw him being promoted to open batting. He is yet to cement a permanent place in the side but certainly an exciting talent.
In 2015, he was suspended for a doping rule violation after he tested positive for a performance enhancing drug, 19-Norandrostenedine. He was suspended immediately. However Perera proved his innocence and came out with success.
In an exclusive interview with mirrorcricket.lk Perera speaks of his career and the doping scandal which almost threatened to destroy his career.
