Angampora is one of the oldest and traditional forms of martial arts of Sri Lanka descending from ancient times. However, Angampora was discontinued when Britishers banned it in 1818. Following the regaining of independence, skilled traditional martial arts maestros spearheaded the revival of the martial arts. One such maestro at Sri Jayawardenepura University’s is visiting lecturer Deshamanya Kalabhushana G.Karunapala. Students are seen practising Angampora at the university under the guidance of maestro G.Karunapala. Pix by Pradeep Pathirana
