The Organisation of Professional Association’s (OPA) together with UNDP recently announced association’s 29th annual conference under the theme, ‘Good governance the way forward’ and the second national Apex awards 2016, that will be held in October.
They called professionals to submit applications before 15th of August as the award ceremony will be held under 10 categories.
Speaking at the media briefing held in Colombo, Annual Conference Chairman Ruwan Gallage said that when considering good governance, its end result should be prosperity for the Sri Lankans.
“When we look at what is good governance and it’s end result of good governance, generally what we see is certain sectors of the good governance, specially rule of law and transparency coming in to focus, whereas there so many other aspect where you need to go with it. And end result of good governance should be prosperity for the Sri Lanka to ensure at the end of ultimate objective we have to look at critical aspects of good governance,” he said,
Briefing about the history, President Professor Rohana Kuruppu said the Association started in 1975 and it has 47 professional member associations.
Past President Dr.Joel Fernando said that OPA identified three main formations in the society which are, civil society, corporate sector and state, adding that all three segments should be involved and interact in order to have good governance.
