The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) which contested in alliance with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and secured 14 seats in Parliament said that it would extend its active cooperation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in key areas such as the introduction of new constitutional reforms, a party official said.
Party’s Galle District MP Shan Wijeyalal de Silva told Daily Mirror that the SLFPers met at the party headquarters on Sunday evening with its leader Polonnaruwa District MP former President Maithripala Sirisena.
He said no political decision was taken at the meeting.
“We discussed general stuff. That is the first gathering of all of us in Colombo after the election results were announced. We all came to Colombo to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister. We also decided to support the President and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in the realisation of the government’s policies,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)

The SLFP and its members have to support all decisions taken by the Rajapaksas. If not you jokers will get kicked out. An irreverent statement.
