Samagi Jana Balawegya (SJB) while stating it is against the proposed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement, asked the government whether it had discussed it with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who happened to be the Chairman of MCC, had come here to take a decision on it.
SJB MP Hesha Withanage told a press conference that Mr. Pompeo is also the head of MCC other than being the US Secretary of State.
“ It would be obvious that MCC agreement would have been a topic of discussion with the visiting US Secretary of State during his visit. Therefore people of Sri Lanka would like to know the details of these discussions,” he said.
“Indian people were informed about the purpose of Mike Pompeo’s visit to that country, but our people have not been informed in such a manner,” he added.
“The Government should see to it that it maintains a non-aligned stance and not to make Sri Lanka a US or a Chinese colony,” he also said.(Yohan Perera)
