The decision on whether to obtain evidence from Abdul Cader Fatima Hadiya, wife of National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ) Leader Zahran Hashim is to be announced today by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing Easter Sunday attacks.
Officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) unit of the Commission, yesterday (22) brought Zahran's wife to the Commission; but no evidence was recorded from her due to the prevailing circumstances.
Senior Additional Solicitor General (SASG) Sarath Jayamanne and few other representatives from the Attorney General's (AG) Department also had a secret discussion at the Commission premises on whether to obtain evidence from Hadiya.
According to sources of the Commission, during the discussion, the AG's department officials had pointed out that obtaining evidence from Hadiya before the Commission could hamper court cases that are currently being heard against her. (Yoshitha Perera)
