Colombo Chief Magistrate’ Court today transferred former Minister Rajitha Senaratne’s bail application to another court following a request by Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dileepa Peiris on behalf of the Attorney General (AG).
Considering the past incidents arose with regard to Senaratne’s bail application, DSG Peiris requested Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne to transfer the relevant bail application to a different Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, President’s Counsel Anil Silva appearing for Mr. Senaratne informed the Court that he was disappointed with AG’s decision.
However, Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne informed the Court that judges have the capability to decide with an independent mind and if any party feels that they have been subjected to prejudice by a judge, she is willing to refer it to another judge.
Accordingly, the request was referred to Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage and the bail application was reviewed before him. (Yoshitha Perera)

If there were two Attorney generals they could have shifted the cases between them based on their prejudices after all AGs too are fallible souls.
