President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is likely to prorogue parliament soon to begin a new session along with his maiden speech to the House, Daily Mirror learns.
Otherwise, parliament is supposed to have its session scheduled for December 3, 2019.
The government leaders who met at the residence of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Tuesday evening and discussed the need to prorogue parliament.
The President can prorogue parliament through a proclamation in terms of Article 70 of the Constitution.
Daily Mirror learns that the President will address parliament early December. (Kelum Bandara)
