The Public Health Inspectors' Union today showed their dismay over the decision by the Health Ministry to vaccinate relatives of Government Medical Officer's Association (GMOA) members ignoring other health workers, who also face the same risk in the fight against COVID-19.
PHIs Union Head Upul Rohana told the Daily Mirror that it is important to vaccinate the family members of other officials such as nurses, paramedics, junior staff members and all other members linked to health sector if relatives of GMOA members are vaccinated.
“The Health Ministry yesterday made arrangements to vaccinate five relatives of each GMOA member at 20 MOH offices in the Western Province. They were to be vaccinated today," he said.
“Accordingly, we have decided to withdraw from all services at these MOH offices in a bid to show our protest,” he stressed.
The PHIs head said they were of the opinion that priority should be given to vaccinate all the professionals, who are directly exposed to the fight against COVID-19 rather vaccinating the relatives of medical officers. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

The vaccination program is in utter disarray. Visited a MOH Office today for the AZ 2nd dose. Although only Doctors and their families were to be given, lots of people with "CONTACTS" walked in for their jab.

GMOA family members must be vaccinated since they at a higher risk. The PHIs family members too must be vaccinated, their families too are at risk. The aged and the poor are expendable commodity, let them die.

Its fair that medical officer's immediate family members are given priority. But what has happened is that their in law's and even their brother sisters are being vaccinated on this priority list. It also came to light in the media today that even it happened with the armed forces and hence it was adopted with medical officers as well.

Things like this can only happen in mighty Sri Lanka. I can understand vaccinating the Doctors and Nurses first. But what’s the logic behind vaccinating the relatives of Doctors? Maybe someone in the Health Ministry wanted to vaccinate their Kith and Kin and hence made a decision! Anyway happy blood clotting In the short term! Long term still not known. Blood clotting happens in under 50s, so please don’t vaccinate your relatives under 50s, as a medicine that is supposed to save lives may end up killing you, actually!

GMOA attacked UNP Yahapalana Government with fake stories.. So SLPP gave them 02 MP seats in Parliament.. GMOA is a part of this Government.. Have a lot of Blackmoney to give to TV Channels.. to support them in News.. Very Rich People.. so trying to get the Vaccine' first for their friends and family ;-) But they have indirectly killed 1000s of innocent people / patients with their Politically Motivated Strike.
