While claiming that there was no procedure adopted by the Health Ministry for the people to get registered for vaccination roll out, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath today requested people not to act upon WhatsApp or SMS messages they receive with regards to the vaccination drive.
He told a news conference at the Health Promotion Bureau that the Health Ministry has not made any official statement asking people to get registered for vaccination.
He said they had received information that certain institutions had initiated such registration procedures and added that those institutions had not informed the Health Ministry regarding that.
“We advise people not to act on WhatsApp or SMS messages they receive, asking them to get registered to get vaccines. We will inform people only to rely on the Health Ministry and Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in the respective areas. They only circulate the updated and credible information,” he said.
Responding to a question on the intervention of politicians in the vaccination drive, he said it was regretful to observe the people’s representatives were acting in disorderly manner and disrupting the duties of health workers.
“It is not a good precedent. Community leaders should cooperate with health workers in this task without disrupting their duties,” he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

It seems that politics has mixed up with this vaccinating drive. WHO has earlier informed the health ministry to implement a action plan in this regard before the vaccine are given to the people

Smart app Friday, 28 May 2021 09:26 PM
Why not doctor ? In a country where smart phones are sold nearing double the population , introducing an app to register to get an appointment for vaccination is a good thing. So the people does not have to stay in long queues and struggle and ultimately get infected while waiting for the vaccine . Smart out of the box thinking is what we need. Atleast you can try it in major cities in the country .
