The Labour Department has not received any evidence to indicate that there was a violation of labour laws at the Brandix Minuwangoda facility.
Commissioner General of Labour RPA Wimalaweera said that he had received notice from Minister of Labour Nimal Siripala de Silva to investigate allegations related to Brandix.
However, he said that the Labour Department can only investigate anything which falls within the labour laws.
Wimalaweera said that the Labour Department has no mandate to investigate anything related to the coronavirus.
He said that if the staff not been paid salaries or EPF and ETF then he will take strict action.
However, he asserted that so far there has not been any indication to that effect.
Over 1000 people linked to the Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster have tested positive for the virus.

All government departments are functioning perfectly. In all this chaos one wonders why the GMOA is so silent? Just imagine if all this happened during the UNP administration..
