The government has decided to exempt the Cellular Tower Levy on the towers used to provide 5G coverage, the Finance Ministry said while presenting a bill to parliament today.
It said the decision was taken while considering the requests and demands of the public as well as the operators. The Cellular Tower Levy was imposed under the Finance Act, No.35 of 2018.
“Mobile technology is constantly evolving to keep pace with growing demand. The government’s ambition is to ensure that consumers have excellent connectivity across the country,” the Ministry said.
