Death of a 32-year-old man was reported due to drowning in Gin Ganga and two persons sustained injuries after being buried in a landslide at Gasnewa in Kegalle, DMC Deputy Director for Early Warning Pradeep Kodippili said.
The body of the man who drowned was found after a search operation this morning and the two persons who buried in a landslide were rescued and admitted to the Warakapola hospital.
However, the man who became trapped in the mud, died and the mother of the deceased who was buried in the mud was rescued and admitted to the Warakapola Hospital.
Meanwhile, rising water levels were witnessed and transformed into a mini flood situation in the Kelani River along Deraniyagala, Holambuwa, Kithulgala, Hanwella and Nagalagam street in Colombo.
People living in the low-lying areas of Dehiovita, Ruwanwella, Dompe, Seethawaka, Kaduwela, Biyagama, Kolonnawa, Wattala and some areas of Colombo, need to be vigilant about possible floods.
