The carcass of a six-year-old-female leopard that had been shot to death was discovered yesterday at the Brownlow Tea Estate at Maskeliya, Nallathanniya, Wildlife officer Prabash Karunathilake said.
He said the leopard was a well grown female who had been shot in the head thrice.
“Investigations are underway in search of the perpetrators. The Post-mortem examination is being carried out and the Hatton Magistrate Court has been notified regarding the killing,” Mr. Karunathilake said. (Ranjith Rajapaksa)

If jail terms are not implemented this will go on. Find the killer and send him to life in prison this is equal to killing a human.

Why are we wasting valuable time knowing full well that the perpetrators will never be caught. Sri Lankans, like the leopards spots, will never change.

Brownlow Tea Estate at Maskeliya should be held accountable. How hard is it to find who owns a firearm in that area

The government cannot fix everything by amending the Constitution. It is a silly question to ask whether the government has anything in the amendment to stop the killing wildlife. Wise people learn from others' mistakes, average people learn from their own mistakes, but fools learn from nobody, they don't even learn from their own mistakes. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is daydreaming to develop Sri Lanka as a developed country while the opposition parties' leaders are following India and the West to fulfil their own political agendas, even though India's literacy rate is well below Sri Lanka and the West's interest is keeping the developing countries under them. Unfortunately, history is repeating itself, because fools never learn. South Asia didn't have a post independence strategy to utilise the largest population, it still does not have a strategy to come up other than pleasing the West. South Asia has more enemies inside than outside.
