The Government has decided to facilitate the burial of COVID-19 victims in the Iranaitivu island in the Northern Province, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
He told the weekly cabinet briefing that the island was chosen as it has lesser population.
The Minister said burial of the victims will take place with state funds.

What a silly idea and a waste of public money?

An island in the outback of the North? What a disgrace for all Muslims and Christians.

I hope the family members would be given a authenticated tape of burial , and the site would be marked with a name tag for members to pay their respect in the future and the graves maintained properly. In a small island water level is high and by choosing such the excuse of infection spreading through contamination is no longer valid. Budhism preaches love not revenge nor superiority.

Excellent place. So Muslims can bury as they want. the majority won't get cross because of water pollution. Why do Muslims complain now? They want Independent square?

Will be fully supported by TNA with open arms.

what a nonsense, waste of resources when country is in debts.: Cholera is a water-borne disease whereas Covid-19 is Air-borne." simply science to understand that the burial is no threat to underwater springs. during cholera 100s or 1000 s buried and yet no incident of water contamination.

For such a quick selection of the place makes one think this is all pre planned
