A house in the Colombo 06 area was sealed earlier today after two people, who had recently returned from India were taken by a team of PHI officers and police, to the isolation center or hospital, eyewitnesses said.

A medical team had arrived at the house, in the early hours and had taken the couple, after which the entire house was disinfected and sealed.

It is still unsure if the patients were confirmed to be infected by the coronavirus.

The Police have issued a warning to all those who have returned back to the country after March 16 to register at the nearest police station or face arrest.

A grace period has been issued to register till April 1, with the police warning that if returnees fail to register, they will never be able to leave the country again.

Military sources told Daily Mirror that medical officers, military and police were on the hunt for isolated cases which posed the biggest threat at the moment and so far a few had been detected and had been transported to hospitals. (Jamila Husain)

They might get the immigrants information from airport itself

    Mahinda Tuesday, 31 March 2020 07:55 PM

Why the authorities can't get returnee's particulars from the immigration system at the airport and chase them. Asking them to report to the nearby police and taking further time lead to devastate.

Quarantine is nice but provide medicine needs for other ailments and food supply without discriminating tamils.

Shouldn't all who come to Sri Lanka be quarantined

The authorities are playing HORA police. First you let them go and then you chase them . Wasted time and energy.very simple nip it off from the bud . Policy. On arrival give them a random check if okay serve them a homequarantine order and reconfirm the order by another person of the house or anyplace where he is going to fulfill his quarantine period atime limit to rwach his destination according to the distance.and he should call and reconfjrm once he arrive at his destination . If this is not done .you have all his documents . I mean the passport copy his confurmed address and a guarantor .arrest them immediatley. You may make afew more according to your available manpower or resources .if that will make it more easy and convenient for both parties . This is my personal opinion . Sorry ifi am wrong thanks
