Do different scientific laws and realities apply to Sri Lanka as opposed to the rest of the world? The Government health conclusion is such a shame for all Sri Lankan scientists and medical professionals.

This is plain juvenile mentality. A dead body is a dead body, period. Nothing is going to bring it back to life. Just follow the WHO guidelines as up to now and cremate every single one and to hell with his or her religion.

please explain why burying a dead body is an issue, when a living COVID patient would still dispose his urine and stools

A committee should be appointed with a deadline or time bound. This committee is appointed not to find a solution for an indefinite period of time.

When you discriminate minorities like this, also by harming their businesses by forbidding castle slaughter, extremism and terrorism will grow. This is an upmost disgrace and violation of human rights

    Grave Human Rights VIOLATION!

Sri Lanka does not have the Scientists to make a definitive decision about it, we are run by Doctors. In this context it is preferable to err on the side of caution than take a deadly risk. So the present policy of cremation should continue.

    Absouloute disgrace.

Mohamed Ishan Monday, 23 November 2020 04:26 PM

Very Funny.... Why don't the Govt ask the expert medical pundit to find a vaccine if they are so knowledgeable on the Virus. When the entire world is following the WHO guidelines, why not we? This is a mockery Shame shame shame

    Racist move!

Amnesty International Monday, 23 November 2020 06:00 PM

This has nothing to do with health or religion. It is plain dirty racist politics! Everyone should read the rapport about the Srilankan government from Amnesty International. It is an objective, transparent independent organisation.

Burying the dead goes with the nature as Man is created from dust so when he/she dies goes back to where he or she is belongs to. As for the cremation this is against the very nature of mankind even though he/she is a non-Muslim. in fact no human should be cremated as it is against the very nature of mankind who are created from dust. Point to note that ever since man sets on this earth millions buried all over the world irrespective of the water levels. Many dies from various contagious decease. Till date there is not a single evidence to support that dead bodies could transmit disease to humans. in fact, sand is a strong anti bacterial element which deactivate all living organisms.
