Govt. should reveal the force behind Port City: Akmeemana Dayarathana Thera

The Government should reveal the force that is operating behind the controversial Colombo Port City project, Sinhala Ravaya President Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana Thera said.

Addressing the media today he said the President, constituent parties of the SLPP, the cabinet Ministers and people were not aware of the actual details of the Port City. The Government must reveal whether the force was to sell or destroy the country or killing its people. 

Therefore, the public should be aware of the project and the Government should go for a referendum.

Ven. Dayarathana Thera said a seven-member committee to be appointed by the President to administer the Port City activities. Also, the President has the right to change the members of the committee and the Parliament holds no right even to question the President. 

Therefore the prelate has requested the administration of the Port City should be under the preview of the Parliament. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
