The former President, former Prime Minister, former State Minister of Defence and former heads of security establishments should be held responsible for the dastardly Easter Sunday carnage, former Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri told a press briefing held last Sunday in Moneragala.
The final report of the parliamentary select committee, appointed by the then Speaker to probe the Easter attacks, was cited during the press briefing.
“The committee concerned was appointed by the then Speaker heeding to a request made by MPs of all political parties. After it was appointed, the committee recorded statements from a number of witnesses. The final report was compiled based on such evidence. Another special probe commission was appointed by former President Maithripala Sirisena which called for the report compiled by us. Despite intelligence units forewarning about a planned attack, relevant authorities had failed to take apt measures to avert it. If they had taken timely action, this carnage could have been avoided. The main task of a parliamentary select committee is to call for evidence and report their findings to Parliament. This committee had the authority to prosecute the wrongdoers,” he said.

While Madduma bandara was seated next to him Kumarasiri's views can be taken as a political. Former PM and the Deputy Minister were banned from attending the security council meetings by the Ukussa. So Sajith faction is on all out to destroy the UNP

How can the former PM be held responsible when he was not invited to security council meetings? He did not get any intelligence warning like some others. It is the President who should be held responsible for intelligence failings.
