Former Chairman of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over an alleged financial irregularity of Rs. 90 million.
Police said the CID had commenced an investigation into a complaint lodged with the CID on January 14, 2020 regarding a financial irregularity of Rs. 90 million during the purchase of liquid fertilizer from a private company for Ceylon Fertilizer Limited.
The suspect who was the chairman of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company from 2017 to 2019 was arrested on suspicion of being involved in this alleged financial fraud at his residence at Wickramasinghapura in Battaramulla.
The suspect was to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The CID is conducting further investigations. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

He would have had other politicians involved and will be bailed out next week. My front house neighbor is one such person and was arrested and remanded and is out again heading the same government establishment.
