A 43-year-old woman was arrested for making defamatory remarks against Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith in a video uploaded to social media, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The suspect was arrested in Battaramulla. He said the video also contained content that arouse hatred between Buddhist and Catholic communities.
“She is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate tomorrow,” DIG Rohana said.
The Criminal Investigation Department is carrying out further inquiry into the incident. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

this arrest wrong. people have right to criticize anyone including any priest regardless of their religion. They can be Hindu of Buddhist or Muslims or Christians or Catholics. In France, one Muslim terrorist killed a teacher because the teacher made some comments about Muslim religion. If people really believe in God, why do they need to resort violence?

She has no knowledge of any religion. She is a paid puppet of an NGO trying to destroy Buddhism. Please do not let her give lectures to Daham Pasal students.

Freedom of speech has limits, does not mean you can say what you want. There has to be accountability for those thousands whose lives have been destroyed forever. Not to mention the image of the country, dragged in the mud. Need justice Focus on that, not the Cardinal
