Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath today said that she was tested positive with COVID-19 virus.
She told the Daily Mirror that she had undergone a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) two days before, after a meeting at the office of the Trincomalee Government Agent (GA) and came to know through the results by yesterday (11).
She is receiving treatment at her residence covered by quarantine regulations.
The close associates of her and the staffers have been sent for quarantine, she said.
"We have engaged in various activities to control the spreading of virus in the EP. Unfortunately, I have got infected with the virus," she said.
It was also said that the virus spread is rampant in the Eastern Province. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
