The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) yesterday requested the politicians not to use the COVID-19 epidemic situation for mere political gain, ahead of the General Election.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge request all government and opposition members to keep in mind and act with concern with the instant decisions taken by the Health Ministry.
Also, he requested the Government to locate the Italian tourist group and send them to a quarantine centre if they are still in the country.
It was clear that the guide was infected from a person among the group who had the virus, he said.(Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

IDH has no sophisticated ICU etc. Spoke with Doctors at the National Hospital and they are concerned that there is No plan to combat an outbreak. No safety equipment, no quarantine zones, no place for the staff to stay (since they won’t be able to go home).

Oh... GMOA is still there. I thought it was dessolved after the presidential election. If previous govt. was in power by this time GMOA should have issued several statements blamming govt. and Rajitha.

Can the GMOA give a valid reason to choose the Batticaloe Private University for Quarantine purpose. IDH would have been the best place as it is Hospital and have at least some basic requirements.
