The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) today requested the government to close all liquor shops and outlets to help increase the immunity of the people.
The GMOA said due to the widespread of the COVID-19 virus in the country, it was essential to go for the immediate closure of all liquor shops.
They also requested the Government to promote the use of toxin-free traditional foods among the people and urge them to drink water regularly, to abstain from using liquor and prevent smoking.
“People should also stick to home-cooked foods, engage in garden farming and in exercises to increase the immunity,” the GMOA said.
However, it said the Epidemiology Unit is still not sharing data related to the spread of the virus.
“Therefore, if anything worse happens in the society, the Epidemiology Unit should take the responsibility,” the GMOA said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

It is for people's well-being that doctors say so. It is up to the people whether to pay heed to health advices or not. This is not a time for arguing.

On which planet are these so called medical officers living by releasing such statements. Immunity could be increased by good food which many don't have. I don't see any fault if a person has a drink in his home. Many people are already mentally depressed by staying in doors and you doctors try to depress them more by not allowing even a drink.

If the GMOA stops striking every time someone breaks wind, that will contribute to better health for people.

What does the GMOA have against liquor shops? Is it because they swear by the virtues of surgical spirits?

Listen to the wise men. This is the only solution they can come up with every time. One of the most selfish bunch of people in the country.

Stop eating fast foods to increase your immunity. Close all the fast foods shops in the country.

You guys of GMOA never had this under control at any time, just lame excuses and passing the buck or trying to find a scapegoat. Did other countries stop the sale of liquor, may be closed pubs.
