Five Chinese nationals including a female have been arrested for operating an illegal gambling centre at Lauris Road in Bambalapitiya last night.
Police said the Bambalapitiya and Kollupitiya police had conducted a special joint operation and arrested these suspects.
The Police also took more than Rs. 1 million in cash and 2,600 Yuan Chinese currency into their custody from the suspects' possession.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the Chinese nationals were in Sri Lanka on tourists visa.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said the police will conduct raids on illegal gambling especially during the festive season.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
